Splice is made specifically for the iPhone, but offers a range of features to create beautiful video slideshows.
Pros Slice comes with options to create videos in portrait or landscape. You have the option to add titles and transitions (6), and you can import videos and photos. videos and photos can be cropped, with an option for pan and zoom. The user can add two music tracks and one track for narration. Five special effects can be added to your media and, you have the option to vary the speed of video clips. You can import your own music, but Splice also supplies a library of songs to choose from. The timeline interface for video and audio tracks is intuitive and easy to use. Cons Slice exports projects in 540p and 720p, but does offer an option for 1080p. The app comes with a variety of options for in-app purchases like borders and music, which is a hidden feature that can be a turn off to some users. The app does not offer an iPad version, but the iPhone version can be installed. Splice is $3.99 in the App Store |

Pinnacle StudioPinnacle Studio is a premiere video editing software with a range of features to customize your videos.
Pros The app includes transitions, titles, montage, elements, and the ability to import pictures and videos. Unlike other competitors, Pinnacle Studio offers more flexibility, with a unique storyboard and timeline layout for more controlled editing. Cons The library includes sound effects, but could be enhanced with a selection of soundtracks. Dropbox integration would be a nice addition. Overall, Pinnacle Studio is a great application, arguably the best available for the iPad. The app is $12.99 in the App Store. |
