Werble's first version was introduced in December 2016, which makes it one of earliest apps to focus on photo animation. Werble follows a paid model that comes with in-app purchases. The latter allows you to be selective in determining what add-ons you want to use and how much you want to pay. Like other animators, Werble comes with overlays available in bundles, such as, bokeh, hair waves, and sparks, to name a few. Unlike other animators, Werble offers the ability to add layers or other photo images (e.g. pngs), in addition to overlays. Werble also comes with an adjustment tool menu for adding blends, adjusting color, lighting, blurs, along with a sharpen tool; and additional effects like "Pulse" and "Motion." Projects can be exported to your camera roll and to over 16 social media sites in the form of videos or animated GIFs.
Plotaverse by Plotagraph, Inc
Plotaverse debuted on iOS as Plotagraph+ in July 2017. Plotaverse is the overarching platform for creating, displaying, and sharing your Plotagraphs. Plotagraphs is the term used to describe the animation tool for animating your photos. The animate tool, in the form of colored arrows, can be applied to your photo to define directional paths for your animations. Animations can be modified by adding anchors and masks to block areas from moving. These tools are supplemented by FX overlays in the form of videos, photographs, plotamorphs, and elements. Combined, overlays can include animated skies, butterflies, flowers, birds, trees, human figures, bokeh, falling leaves and a lot more. Animations can be exported to your camera roll or shared to Plotaverse's online community. The app follows a subscription model that requires monthly or yearly payments.
Enlight Pixaloop by Lightricks Ltd
Pixaloop debuted in July 2018, following the popularity of Plotagraph, which catapulted photo animations into the popular imagination. Pixaloop adopted many of the features in Plotaverse, including arrows that provide directional paths for animating surfaces, masking tools, speed control, and overlays. Pixaloop added unique enhancements to the animation tools by adding geometric paths, and boomerang and circular loops. The overlays and camera FX effects offered by Pixaloop are a cross-section of what you will find in Werble and Plotagraph. Pixaloop more options for exporting, including a range of aspect ratios, expanded durations, and video quality that include 1080p, 2K, and 4K video.
Animatix by Code Organa
Code Organa is known for apps that produce beautiful artistic effects (Toon Camera, Brushstroke, Inkwork, Relight), so Animatix is a welcoming addition to their product offerings. Animatix enables you to add vibratory patterns and effects, coupled with the kinds of artistic effects you will find in other apps like Toon Camera and Brustroke. The first menu on the bottom left comes with 24 types of vibrations, including Noise, Wave, Subtle, Shifty, Sharp, Breathe, Offbeat, Wiggle, Rough, Kinetic, Flow, Texture, Shudder, Scratch, Morph, Squiggle, Paced, Edge, Ban, Sparkle, Ripple, Warp, Inchworm, and Electric. The second menu enables you to enhance the range of these effects by controlling the amplitude, frequency, and tempo. The brush tool adds an artistic dimension such as cartoon, comic, retro, marker, and hatched effects, among others. Projects can be exported as GIFs, Videos, and Live Photos.
