PHOTOSCAPE X
BY MOOII TECH
MY APPLE PODCAST BEST PHOTO EDITOR 2015
Photoscape X is arguably the most robust photo editing application for the Mac. What is unique about this application is that it combines multiple levels of functionality to fulfill all of you photo needs. The major features that come with Photoscape X are Viewer, Editor, Batch, Collage, Combine, Create Gif, Print, and Tools. The Viewer keeps the photos on your Mac organized and accessible; the Editor provides tools for adjustments, filters and effects, brushes, and frames. Batch, Collage, and Combine enable you to edit multiple photos at once, arrange photos in multiple collage configurations, and combine photos into horizontal and vertical banners. Create Gifs enable you to create gifs quite easily by dragging multiple images to the stage, and Tools offer the ability to create screen captures or easily access hues through a built-in color picker. PIXELMATOR
BY PIXELMATOR TEAM
APPLE DESIGN AWARD WINNER 2011
Everyone loves Photoshop, but the price can be expensive to some of us. If you are not a professional, but you are looking for features that can give your photos a professional quality, Pixelmator is a nice alternative. The official Pixelmator website offers video tutorials, which can also be found on their Youtube page. I recommend that you visit those sites to get you up and running. Pixelmator is arguably the best deal you will ever find for an application of this quality. For those of you who are knew to Pixelmator, you may also want to consider Pixelmator for iOS and Pixelmator Pro for the Mac, which is the latest iteration of the app.
PHOTOS
BY APPLE
iPhoto was replaced by the new Photos app (first introduced during WWDC 2014), which is fully integrated across OS X and iOS. Along with this new development, Apple added third-party photo editing integration right inside the native photos app. The desktop version still contains the same editing features, but has a much smoother and cleaner interface, and better iCloud integration. More recently, iOS 10 and MacOS Sierra introduced Memories, a new technology that organizes photos automatically and turns them into video slideshows.

BY MACPHUN LLC
MY APPLE PODCAST - BEST RETOUCH APP FOR THE MAC
In the language of photo editing, "Retouch" is a word used to describe a process that enables you to eliminate unwanted details in your photos. The featured is offered in several iOS applications like "Retouch" and "Handy Photo," but nothing quite matches the precision and quality of Snapheal. Snapheal, another application by MacPhun LLC, is the premiere retouch, removal photo editing application that expunges unwanted details, like words, signs, chairs, cars - virtually anything you want removed from your photo. Snapheal works like magic! The app comes with tools that allow you to control the diameter of brushes, selection tools for isolating objects with more precision, adjustments tools for controlling contrast, saturation, color, and exposure, and expanded viewing options for full or split screen viewing.
FOCUS 2
BY SKYLUM
Some applications come with a ton of features, but Focus 2 focuses specifically on blur and tilt-shift effects, producing superb results. The application comes with presets which are featured along the bottom, including, portrait, nature, architecture, macro, tilt-shift, and custom. With each preset selected, you can control the aperture, vignette, vividness, or choose to turn auto enhancement on or off. The application also comes with a gesture guide for track pad users to provide seamless editing and intuitive interaction. Not surprisingly, MacPhun LLC created this wonderful app, the developers who also gave us Intensify, Snapheal, and FX Photo Studio Pro. MacPhun LLC expanded in line applications to include PCs, thereby changing its name to Skylum.
